Here are some of my favorite items to keep your home and wardrobe fresh and stylish in this new season.
Brass is making a comeback and is absolutely part of Nigh Road’s style this season. I’m not talking about that ultra shiny, yellow brass of the 1980s but the new, antiqued to perfection, warmer and softer brass. I realize this might be a trend thats hard to get onboard with because so many of us spent the last few decades ridding our homes of any 1980s brass remnants. But just like jewelry trends that have transitioned from sterling silver to gold, you’re now seeing home decor trends move away from brushed nickel and chrome to brass. Start by picking up some small decor pieces, like an antiqued brass tray, vase, or candle holder. You can even take it a step further by switching out some of your home fixtures - kitchen pulls and knobs or a pendant light - to something brass. When done gradually and tastefully, it will never go out of style. Try it and you’ll instantly discover the beauty that brass has to offer.
If you spend any time on Pinterest or Instagram searching for decor inspiration then it’s likely you’ve seen your fair share of home beads or wooden bead garland. They’re everywhere and I just love them! Adding the perfect touch of rustic elegance to any space, home beads come in different sizes, lengths and shapes. I have quite a few scattered around my own home and think that they are best used in a relaxed setting. I’ve coiled them through a centerpiece, draped them over a vase, and even laid them across my mantel with some greenery.
It doesn’t matter the season, boxwood adds the perfect touch of greenery and texture to any room. Preserved boxwood, in particular, is my favorite because it is actually real boxwood but without the required maintenance of a living plant. Specially treated to retain its natural deep green color, soft texture and even its smell, preserved boxwood is so versatile it can be used in any room and with any design style. It is a timeless decor piece that is a must-have this season.
Button Front Jeans
A reemerging trend, button front jeans are my current fav when it comes to what I’m wearing. This retro-inspired style adds just the right amount of trendy to my otherwise pretty safe and basic wardrobe.
Beyond Basic Blouses
Flirty, feminine blouses are always a part of my wardrobe arsenal. I love them because they can easily be taken from a day to night look. They’re also great for all seasons - just layer with a cardigan in the cooler weather or pair with some cute shorts or a skirt in the warmer temps. Far beyond just basic, blouses now have fun details like ruffles, puff sleeves, embroidery and embellishments, and are a great way to elevate your wardrobe. They are a must-have Nigh Road style this season!
